Exclusive interview with Phill Harris from Stadium Solutions Ltd
The complete service for clubs upgrading their ground by AtTheMatch
1.What are the main benefits of your turnstiles for sports stadiums?
We manufacture turnstile buildings incorporating two turnstiles, payscreens and lockable doors all manually operated from inside the booth. They allow two orderly queues in and out of the ground, and count the number of people coming in and out. They have payscreens incorporated so everything you need at the entrance is all in one unit. We can make in any club colour to allow uniformity for each club.
2. What are the main challenges associated with manufacturing turnstiles?
There are no challenges apart from timescales, as clients often want a turnstile unit quickly and we don’t hold stock as everything is made to order on our premises. Occasionally if we have had clubs in areas of outstanding natural beauty we have had to adapt our standard design, for instance clad the sides in timber, but this is not a challenge.
3. How can commercial stakeholders in sport capitalise on all the services you offer?
We provide a complete solution for clubs wishing to upgrade their grounds. We provide clubs with a complete range of services, from the initial site visit to design and consultancy, manufacture, groundworks and construction, right through to the the first game. By using one company for all these services, they capitalise and benefit from one point of contact and saving money.
4. How have your turnstiles strengthened fan engagement? How do they improve the match day experience?
They provide a focussed point of entry and a controlled feed in into the ground, to make it a more pleasant, organised and safe atmosphere, without pushing and shoving at the gates.
5. How do you see your industry developing in the future? What are the latest trends in this sector?
Most popular at the moment is small seated stands and standing terracing for clubs wishing to move up to the next step. In the future there will be more money in the sector in the form of grants etc, as the government and local councils see the benefit of investing in community sports clubs.
